Our Vision
Our vision is a San Luis Valley where folks are no longer just surviving; they are thriving!
Our purpose is to ensure available resources are reaching Valley community members who need them the most by building resident capacity, facilitating trusted collaboration, and upholding resource steward accountability.
The Why
There is a long history in this region that provides an explanation for why our communities are in distress. Yet there remains hope amongst many that the future can be better – a reality where future generations are safe, happy and reaching their full potential.
While there are hardworking individuals and organizations making strides, there is a serious need for greater advocacy, capacity, and allyship. Resources are available, but there is disconnection, division and discrimination in the management and decision-making behind these resources.
With support and community conversation, people from all walks of life can come together to lend their perspectives and skills to a collective effort to improve conditions in the Valley.
At SLV Tierra, our purpose is driven by three core pillars: building resident capacity, facilitating trusted collaboration, and upholding resource steward accountability. Through these three interconnected pillars, we strive to create a San Luis Valley where individuals and communities can not only survive but truly thrive.

Fiscal transparency is a cornerstone of our commitment to accountability. We believe that every dollar entrusted to us should be accounted for, and that our financial decisions should be open to public scrutiny. To this end, we have partnered with Open Collective, a transparent financial management platform that allows us to share real-time updates on our funding sources, expenditures, and financial operations.
